Princess Parrot (aka Alexandra's Parrot)

Princess Parrot (aka Alexandra's Parrot) by ianmichaelthomas.

Yes indeed, another Australian native parrot!
The Princess Parrot is one of Western Australia's most secretive yet stunning birds. It is very common as a kept bird, however, this beautiful bird is rarely seen in the wild. It inhabits the harsh inland deserts of the state, including the Canning Stock Route, where it is most often seen. It seems to prefer true desert and is not often seen in areas such as the Pilbara or Goldfields. It is also found throughout the arid Tanami region of the Northern Territory and possibly extends into arid Queensland. In the wild, these birds are well adapted to the arid zone. They are most likely to inhabit inland watercourses. breeding area. Feeding and foraging takes place on the ground, as parrots search for seeds of spinifex (Triodia). They are also known to feed of Acacia blossoms and Mistletoe berries (Loranthus).
